I'm Jay Wilnard L. Marquez, born and raised in Cauayan City, Isabela. I am 20 years old and my birthday is on May 12, 2006. My mother is Gina L. Marquez and my father is Joseph C. Marquez. I have four siblings, but two of them are my half siblings because one is from my mother and the other one is from my father.
When I was a child, the person who stayed with me most of the time at home was my nanny. My older sister was busy with school while my parents were busy working. My mother worked as a News Director at Bombo, while my father worked as a driver at Bombo. They are both retired now. When I was four years old, my grandmother often brought me to Cavite so she would have someone to spend vacation with. We stayed there for a few months at my aunt's house.
When I turned five years old, my grandmother stopped bringing me with her often because I was about to be enrolled in day care. My first day in day care was fun and easy. I always came home proud because I received many stars on my hand for doing well. When I graduated from day care, I became the top 1 student in our class.
When I entered kindergarten, I studied at South School together with my sister. During kindergarten, I continued receiving many stars for my performance. I also liked one of my classmates because she was tall and beautiful, but she became the crush of our classroom which made me sad. However, I did not take it seriously because I was still young and did not understand those things yet. Every dismissal time, I always waited for my sister so we could go home together. Whenever I could not find her, I would cry because I thought she had left me, but sometimes they only changed classrooms. Fast forward to graduation day, I once again became the top 1 student in our class.
When I was in Grade 1 and my sister was in Grade 4, our classrooms were close to each other, so I could easily see her. However, whenever I could not find her, I would still cry sometimes. My classmates were new to me, so I was very quiet at first. After a few weeks, I became close to many classmates, especially one girl because our older sisters were classmates. I also liked one of my classmates because she was cute, intelligent, and small. She was talented because she could recite poems, sing, dance, and perform role plays very well. Meanwhile, I slowly lost interest in studying and enjoyed playing games more. I never confessed my feelings to her until I reached Grade 4 and transferred to North Central School because my sister graduated from Grade 6.
My younger years were full of learning and surprises. I enjoyed every memory even though sometimes I felt shy or uncertain.
Fast forward, I did not want to join the SPED GT section before, so I purposely did not perform well during the exam and was placed in Section A. However, after a few weeks, I was transferred to SPED because my exam and quiz scores were high. When I transferred, I was shocked because I thought I was unattractive since nobody complimented me in my previous school. In my new school, many students complimented me and even called me a heartthrob. Even so, I never entered a relationship because romance was not my priority at that time. Many people still liked me until Grade 7, and I also liked someone, but I was too shy to confess.
During the pandemic and total lockdown, I spent most of my time staying awake late at night and watching anime. I also had a neighbor who became one of my closest friends, and we spent a lot of time together during the pandemic.
The pandemic became the most memorable experience for me because many happy moments happened during that time. It was during the pandemic when I learned how to ride a bike. I also had my first girlfriend during that time, and it felt wonderful, but we eventually broke up after a few months.
When I reached Grade 11, the pandemic ended and face to face classes returned. My friends and I enrolled together, and we chose the ICT strand. In ICT, I learned many things, including how to use FlipaClip. FlipaClip is an application where you create drawings that become moving animations. Because of this skill, I also earned money by accepting commissions from other people.
During Grade 11, I received With Honors, and during Grade 12, I received With High Honors. Now that I am in college, I am taking BSIT WMAD 2A, and with God's guidance, I am still a regular student.
Now that I am in college, I have created many unforgettable memories, especially during overnight projects with my friends. One unforgettable experience happened when we stayed overnight in Naguilian at our friend's house. Around midnight, we decided to walk to 7/11 to buy food, but there were many dogs on the street. We suddenly ran because the dogs started chasing us. One of my friends fell down while running, and I stopped because the dogs were getting closer. When I looked back, I saw my friend lying on the ground while his slipper was broken. We laughed so hard about what happened, but we still continued going to 7/11. On our way home, another friend suddenly tripped and fell again.
College also brought me many happy experiences. One of the most memorable moments was when my aunt bought me my very first laptop, which made me extremely happy. I am now a second year college student, and after finishing my midyear subjects, I will officially become a third year student. I hope that no serious problems come my way because I am not only studying for myself but also for my family. God bless us all.
Despite the many challenges that came into my life, I learned how to fight, stay strong, and continue working hard. My family, friends, and experiences became my inspiration to continue pursuing my dreams.
